ALDONA
NOWOWIEJSKA

Aldona herself!
Songs of the Slavic soul

Polish actress, singer and musician, Aldona sings a broad repertoire of poetry for which she composed the music herself and of traditional songs from various origins.

Guitars, violin, domra and accordion accentuate every variation of her voice: sometimes sweet as velvet, sometimes screaming, but always subtle. She loves to switch between different registers, styles and atmospheres and she also loves to surprise her public. Between sweetness and violence, between sadness and happiness, as strong and as fragile as life, she moves the auditor by her vocal and musical skills, by her presence on stage and her poetic aura, by the simple ways she opens her soul. Telling one more anecdote, Aldona will bring him in her universe, in Poland ... or somewhere else?

"In my songs I try to tell the world as I see it and as all I can say is beyond words I express it through the music. The music finds the words by the poets, these one know better what I want to say." (Aldona Nowowiejska)

After four years of concerts in Parisian cafés, Aldona's show has been presented in Paris at the "Satellit", "Entrepôt", at the festivals "Montmartre en Europe", "nos Europes" at the second "cité des plumes d'Oniropolis", twice at the "Printemps des Poètes" festival and at the Polish institute in Paris. Aldona also toured to Dijon, to "Jazzgot" in Warsaw, to the "Uroczysko" festival in Suprasl, to the MDK in Zgierz (Poland), to "Rekstensamlingene" and to Bergen International Culture Center (Norway). She won the coup de coeur prize from Anne Vanderlove at the "festival de la chanson Française de La Planche" in 1999 and the first prize at the festival of Polish song in Paris also in 1999.

During these concerts, Aldona recorded a live CD containing her 22 composed poems. Another concert was broadcast live on Télé Plaisance on august the 19th, 2000. Among her appearances on the radio (on Aligre FM in Paris, radio Coloriage in Dijon and Kystradioen in Bergen), she has been invited to present in a series of four broadcast named "Trans-histoires" on Aligre FM the songs of her childhood in Poland, of her teenage and of her parents.

Aldona plays regularly in the musical cafés that have produced famous bands in Paris: "Attirail", "chez Ariane", "Trois Chapeaux", "les Uns les Autres", "Kibélé", "Chat Noir", "Connétable" ...

"Her music transforms bodies into wisps of straw swaying under the wind of slavic plains." from the press communiqué of la Grange de Noidan.

"Beautiful songs. I love your shiny eyes and your crazy voice. Very powerful." Amy C.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to you play. Some of it was fascinating, some was moving, some was amusing, altogether I have had a lovely evening." Sarah C.

"The sound is lovely and it surrounds. It creates a sense of nostalgia. I cannot understand the words and this is unfortunate, but I can hear the voice and I can imagine that the words are equally beautiful." Matt(eusz).
